Red Root Floater (Phyllanthus fluitans)
The red root floater was introduced as a rare aquarium plant in Canada more recently. This floating plant likes low/no surface flow, medium/high light, and fertilization. This plant forms small floating lily-like hydrophobic leaves in bunches on surface and produces a line of small bunches along a runner to produce larger plants. The leaf colour ranges from bright green to deep purple and the roots develop a deep red colour. The plant produces small white flowers. Red root floater is a rewarding plant once established. Note that P. fluitans may melt when introduced to a new aquarium due to changes in flow and lighting.
Portion will cover a surface area of 10cm x 10cm.
