Leaves release beneficial tannins and provides a natural surface for biofilms. Let your fish and shrimp decide which leaves they like the most by adding a variety of leaves. Different leaf shapes and sizes can be useful when establishing a sense of scale in the aquarium.

Add the bark strips 1-2 pieces at a time to acheive desired tannin levels. Replace or substitute for a different botanical product when decomposed.

BOILING BOTANICALS
Boiling botanical products for 10-15 minutes will sanitize the material and encourage rapid sinking. Epp 'n Flow Aquariums processes many botanical products through sorting, boiling, and baking prior to sending, but it is still recommended to boil dried natural materials before using in the aquarium.
LEAF LITTER
Add 2-3 leaves at a time to acheive desired tannin levels or litter appearance. Replace or substitute with a different botanical product when decomposed.
