Bristlenose Ancistrus Brown (juvenile)
The Bristlenose Pleco / Ancistrus (Ancistrus cirrhosus) is arguably the BEST ALGAE EATER for the small or large aquarium. They are more efficient than the common Plecostomus sp., and grow a quarter of the size (10-15cm), making the bristlenose an excellent aquarium addition! These are juvenile fish (not adults), they are brown colour, and are 2-3 cm in length.
It is recommended to start with a group of 1-3 fish, depending on the aquarium size. Feed with sinking algae based foods and supplement their diet with driftwood and leaf litter. Also, provide these nocturnal catfish caves to hide in during the day. These fish readily reproduce in the aquarium after 1-2 years of age, given the right conditions.
